WISCONSIN HOT ROD RADIO

I have known Capt'n Bob for over 16 years. Capt'n Bob introduced me to Arlo when they went on the air. They are a great couple of guys that share the same interest and enthusiasm in cars. WISCONSIN HOT ROD RADIO has become a huge success since it started in April, 2007. They already have a huge following of fans. You can listen to the show on Saturdays, or if you miss it, download it from their website. Make sure you look for them at car shows and at the track. Listen for me as a guest speaker on the show in the future. I will be talking about AMSOIL, filtration and other lubricating topics.

On April 7, 2007 Wisconsin hot rod owners and enthusiasts became connected and informed in a whole new way with the launch of “Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio” on AM 1340. Where run-of-the-mill car talk shows discuss everyday cars, “Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio” will pertain to muscle cars, hot rods and customs only. Each one hour show will hit the air waves on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., updating motor heads on the best shows and events in the area. Hosts, Capt’n Bob and Arlo, will also feature an on-air swap meet and present an exciting array of guest speakers that include engine builders, paint representatives and car club members. Capt'n Bob and Arlo are working hard to bring you a great radio show and a great website.

FLAT TAPPET & CAMSHAFT LOBE LUBRICATION PROBLEMS AND ZINC LEVELS

Capt'n Bob and Arlo asked what I knew about the zinc and phosphorus reduction in oils and the effects on flat tappet and camshaft lobe lubrication problems. This concern has been a recent topic at car shows that I have worked.

I was a guest speaker on WISCONSIN HOT ROD RADIO on September 22, 2007 to discuss the zinc phosphorus (ZDDP) problem. You can download the program  from the WISCONSIN HOT ROD RADIO web site.

In 2005, the API (American Petroleum Institute and ILSAC (International Lubricant Standards Approval Committee, in an effort to guarantee catalytic converter performance in new vehicles, instituted standards that reduced the levels of zinc and phosphorus in API oils.

AMSOIL has complied with that in most of their oils, but at the same time they realize that there is a large amount of people that have classic cars, rebuild motors and have high performance older motors that need the zinc levels to stay high.

AMSOIL makes 5 oils with high concentrations of zinc and phosphorus to help with the flat tappet cam lobe problems:

All the above oils have at least 1230 ppm of phosphorus and 1375 ppm of zinc. Please read the Technical Service Bulletin for further details.

While I was adding this information to my website, I came across some other information that might be interesting for you to read about.
